After I had completed the crossing I phoned my wife, Diane (who expected me to be in Burnham-on-Crouch) to tell her I had arrived safely (just). She didn’t believe me at first. When I convinced her I was actually in Holland she made me promise to catch the ferry home. I eventually sailed home a week later!!
